Creating a World Without Poverty by Muhammad Yunus
In his book Creating a World Without Poverty, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus claims that businesses can be an effective way to eliminate poverty from the world—but they must be social businesses designed to meet the needs of the poor.

Could this work? Are his ideas valid? If so, what has to shift in our thinking to carry them out? And how can his ideas be applied to poverty in the United States?

Many people in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota are already reading his book. We want to bring readers together to discuss the concepts and challenges set forth by the creator of the microcredit concept and Grameen Bank.

The Spontaneous Combustion Book Club crew will provide discussion guidelines. We’ve lined up some book club meetings to launch this cities-wide book discussion at coffee houses, libraries, churches and schools.

You can join in with your organizations, friends, associates, colleagues. Your group can organize your own discussion meetings at the time and place you choose. Or you can look online to find a book club meeting happening near you.

If we collectively discuss the questions raised by Creating a World Without Poverty, our perception and thinking just might shift—and maybe some viable social businesses will emerge from the discussions.

Join the intellectual and social ferment! Be a part of this vast social experiment in your own neighborhood and city!

Watch for upcoming publicity, discussion sites and commentary.
