Our annual member meeting is an opportunity to run and/or vote for the new Board of Directors, take a brief look back at 2009, and discuss 2010 planning. All are welcome to renew their membership or become first-time members at the meeting.

About the Green Cleaning Cooperative:
The Green Cleaning Cooperative was recently formed by a group of Latinos with extensive experience in commercial janitorial service to provide employment for 37 members of the co-op who recently lost their jobs. Members of the cooperative are taking the opportunity to form their own business instead of relying on another employer to pay their wages. They are following the example of Latino groups in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco that have established similar cooperatives.
Besides worker ownership, the cooperative has a firm commitment to the use of non-toxic cleaning materials, to protect their own health, the health of their customers and to eliminate the contamination of the water supply with toxic chemicals used in conventional cleaning processes. The cooperative is obtaining training and certification in green cleaning materials and processes with application both to residential cleaning and to commercial janitorial service.

The cooperative was formed with the assistance of the SEIU Local #26 and Latino Economic Development Center.
