Laura Carlsen was a guest on KPFA’s Morning Show to discuss the results of the Summit of the Americas. Carlsen noted that, “The Summit was a major step forward in defeating the Bush administration agenda to impose the Free Trade Area of the Americas on the hemisphere. The Mercosur countries remained united in their opposition and although the meeting wasn’t exactly a paradigm shift, it leaves the door open for the construction of alternatives.”
